Cody Banks talks about steps gardeners and landowners can take to help conserve the soil and water resources in their communities and improve their soil health at home.

Banks is Project Manager at Shirley Heinze Land Trust, where he started as a college intern and has since filled various roles in and out of the organization. His professional background is primarily in ecology, botany, natural land management, wetland and soil sciences. He has recently transitioned to a position focusing on agricultural land and water quality. He is working to establish a small farm on his own property through the use of various conservation practices, including cover cropping and other soil-building techniques.
